The Vendors

Who gets paid from Montgomery County contract spending — and how much?

Interactive analysis of ~56,000 Contract Spending rows (FY2014–2026, about $11.9 billion), joined with County Spending and active Contracts open data. Filter by year, department, expense category, contract type, and match status. About a quarter of spend uses county-protected vendor tokens that cannot be resolved to public names.

Protected vendors: about a quarter of spend uses numeric tokens that cannot be resolved to public names. Department and category enrichment still joins on contract number.

How This Dashboard Works

Payment rows come from Montgomery County’s Contract Spending dataset. Named vendors are matched to the County Vendor List after normalizing legal suffixes (Inc, LLC, DBA, THE) with a light fuzzy Jaccard threshold of 0.85.

Protected vendors are numeric tokens in the public feed — not resolvable public IDs. The same tokens appear encrypted in County Spending; vendor_id never bridges to a real name. Department and expense category enrichment still works for these rows via contract number.

Active Contracts enrichment covers named/active contract numbers only (~1.4k matches / ~23% of spend). Protected contract numbers do not join there. Enrichment is rebuilt offline with npm run enrich; this page never pulls the full County Spending extract live.
